In 2005, Bangladesh debuted at the IMO with just 3 points out of 252. Fast forward to 2018: our first-ever Gold. That arc—from underdog to regional powerhouse—didn’t happen by luck; it came from a grassroots movement that turned math into a nationwide festival.
Inside a Math Olympiad
Olympiad problems are puzzles with proofs—elegant, tricky, and nothing like routine school math. Over two four-and-a-half-hour days, contestants face six problems in algebra, geometry, number theory, and combinatorics. Crack one and you feel the “Eureka” rush.
How Bangladesh leveled up
- Festivals & outreach: thousands of students now compete across the country; math became cool.
- Training camps: bootcamps that build depth and grit; many who miss out return stronger.
- Mentor pipeline: former contestants coaching the next generation; better resources and problem sets.
The result: consistent 100+ team scores, regular Top-40 finishes, and years where we out-rank regional giants.
Why try Olympiad math?
- It’s creative problem-solving at its purest—and addictively fun.
- You join a supportive community of math lovers, locally and worldwide.
- It opens doors: universities love demonstrable problem-solving grit.
